Pictured above are Ss. Cyril and Methodius, Patrons of Europe
These two saints are brothers, and were given the title "apostles of the Slavs" for christianizing the Danubian Slavs and for influencing the religious and cultural development of all Slavic peoples. Both were outstanding scholars, theologians, and linguists. They were honoured by Pope John Paul II in his 1985 encyclical Slavorum Apostoli. [Source: britannica.com]
As far as I understand, these two saints actually brought writing to that part of the world, and adapted it for use with the Slav languages. The Cyrilic alphabet (which is named after St Cyril) therefore has many different characters compared to the latin (etc) alphabet, and is still used in countries in that region.
And there was a collective gasp of envy from the Sith Lords.
