Can You Say This About a Saint?
PRETTY HOTZ FOR DYING 130 YEARZ AGO
Saint Bernadette (Jan 7, 1844 – Apr 16, 1879), was a miller's daughter from the town of Lourdes in southern France who saw the Blessed Virgin Mary in a grotto at Lourdes.
Saint Bernadette never lead a life of comfort being born to a poor family who went through increasing economic problems. Even in the convent she ran into difficulties from other nuns. It was reported that Mary told her She responded, "I do not promise to make you happy in this life, but in the next." This is true for all of us that our ultimate happiness is in Heaven enjoying the Beatific Vision. While we can be happy in this life, it is not our final destination.
Can you call a corpse "hotz"...LOL
I think you can call it "hotz" or anything else for that matter if it looks like this after 130 years!
I think the word "awesome" would be fitting.
I don't mean to sound too sanctimonious but I think it's a little off.
The rest are great, especially the Rook one! lol
....to the idea that only ugly girls enter convents cause they can't find a man to marry. This girl was stunningly beautiful. Her beauty was overshadowed by her holiness which is one reason why God has preserved her body. He gave this shining testament to sanctity for our benefit.
Fiat Voluntas Tua
Is that REALLY St. Bernadette's corpse? I didn't know that her body was lying around somewhere like Snow White before the kiss... Marvelous! Where is this?
... Nevers, France
It is her body there but her body is not visible. A light wax mask was made for her face and hands from impressions taken from her body and from photos taken during life. Her habit has had to be replaced several times through the years because it disintegrates but her body has remained incorrupt. Been there, seen that. ;)
i might ask her out... in another life...
The rest of your posts to date are cute but you crossed the line on this one.
This is highly inappropriate.
She IS hot! Many nuns I know are beautiful and it's human nature to acknowledge that beauty! Now Obviously, Christian Charity means not expressing that opinion to cause scandle, however seeing as how this site is in keeping with the LOLCAT'S tradition, I believe that the caption is fitting!
Besides, would you guys really want to take up arms against these good people who depict our Saints in a loving (and humorous!) way or someone like Bill Mayer who attacks the likes of Blessed Mother Theresa?
Her body may be uncorrupted but I doubt it looks anything like this "likeness"... If it did, there would be no problem showing it.
She must have been lovely though. A gift she gave back to God.
@ standing maryanna: Bernadette Loh's comment above mentions that the face/hands are actually from a wax impression made from photos of Saint Bernadette when she was still alive.
I think it's more the fact that you're calling her "hotz" that's the slightest bit of a problem--It sort of objectifies her. (I've often talked to other young women about being called "hot" and agreed with them that it makes one feel more like an object than a person: we'd much rather be told we're "beautiful" than "hot.") Of course in this case, it's all in jest, but it is something to keep in mind...
pray and let love lead the way
Pushing the boundaries here with the wording, but her beauty definitely raises ones desire for holiness.
