Hospitality of Abraham
The hospitality is not lacking here!
Almost every Byzantine church, Catholic or Orthodox has an icon of the Hospitality of Abraham. The three angels have been seen since the Church Fathers as symbolic of the Holy Trinity. The Old Testament contains many hints and symbols of the Holy Trinity and this one has become well known amongst Byzantine Christians. The best known Hospitality of Abraham icon was written by Andrei Rublev in which neither Abraham nor Sarah are shown and each person has a rod symbolizing divine authority and the only thing on the table is a chalice to symbolize the Eucharist.
