St. Joseph of Cupertino levitates to catch a football

Watch out Jerry Rice!

Any students, pilots or astronauts out there?  This saint is for you!

St. Joseph of Cupertino started out clumsy, forgetful and bad-tempered, unwanted by all around him, even his mother, but while serving in the stable at a Franciscan monastery grew more humble, patient, careful and successful.

He studied unsuccessfully in hopes of learning enough to pass the exam for ordination.  His reading and writing were hopeless and his practice homilies never satisfied his teachers--only one text "took hold" of him ("Blessed is the womb that bore Thee" Luke 11:27) and miraculously, that was the verse he was asked to explain during the exam.

After his ordination he became known for his mortification, generosity, ecstasies, levitation, power over nature and the gift of healing.  He endured much suffering when accused of being false and lived the rest of his life hidden away.

Feel free to read more about this amazing saint (we especially like the accounts of the bird he sent to help the nuns sing and how he got the sheep to give honor to Mary).

The caption made me LOL.

(and this is why I just submitted pictures... I'm not funny!)
