Constantine's Edict of Milan (in 313) finally lifted the penalties and restrictions against those who professed themselves Christians, thus allowing the public and wide spread of the faith through the Roman Empire.

It was my understanding that while Constantine is venerated as a Saint in the Eastern Orthodox churches, he has never been so venerated by us in the West.

@ Anthony OPL - Point well taken, he's not necessarily a canonized saint in the western Church, but he is often honored as such, or at least as being on par with the likes of Noah or maybe one of the brothers of Joseph ;-)
